Our Story
The Full Story

If you travel down Osborne Road in the quiet heart of Colonie, you’ll find more than just a nursery - you’ll find a place where time, memory, and community are woven into the land itself.
Our story begins in 1977, when Michael and Judith Wildzumas - young, determined, and deeply rooted in family - turned this stretch of earth into what became Osborne Mill Farm. With their daughters, Michele and Jill, they grew vegetables by hand and by heart, supplying nearby grocery stores and welcoming neighbors to their simple roadside stand. People didn’t just come for produce - they came for connection, for laughter, for familiarity.
This was the kind of place where children picked out pumpkins with wide eyes, where neighbors stopped by just to say hello, and where the rhythm of the seasons marked time more than the calendar did.

A Growing Vision

Years passed, and with them came new growth - not just in crops but in dreams.
In 1990, the family constructed the now-iconic pole barn - the red structure that still stands proudly today - marking the transformation from Osborne Mill Farm to Osborne Mill Nursery. The focus expanded beyond produce to greenhouse flowers, nursery stock, floral artistry, and specialty goods that brought beauty to weddings, homes, and holidays.
What began as a humble farm blossomed into a beloved destination - a place that added color to front porches, helped families honor loved ones, and brought joy to gatherings big and small.

A Name with Meaning

The name Osborne Mill carries the weight of history:
-
It remembers an old mill that once operated on this land - a quiet reminder of generations who worked and lived here before us.
-
And “Osborne” honors a respected local judge whose reputation for integrity helped shape the community around this road.
Together, the name stands as a tribute - not just to a place, but to a lineage of hardworking hands and steadfast hearts.
